Romanian tennis player Alexandra Dulgheru won the ITF tournament in Montpellier (France, $ 25,000) after she placed 6-2, 6-2 in the French Sherazad Reix final (cs 7). Dulgheru won her first ITF title after the knee surgery last July.
Dulgheru (28 years old, 517 WTA) came from the qualifiers, took an hour and 29 minutes to get the victory in front of an opponent of the same age, who ranks 283 in the world. Alexandra had a 4-0 lead in the first set and after the opponent narrowed the gap (4-1 and 5-2) with her own service, the Romanian finished the set at the second chance she had. In the second part of the Sherazad confrontation led 1-0, but followed a series of Alexandra’s four games, and at 5-2 Romanian closed the accounts with a white line.
In the semifinals, Alexandra defeated Swiss Rebeka Masarova (17 years, 306 WTA) with 6-4, 6-2, after the previous tours passed by Usue Maitane Arconada (United States, cs 3) with 3-6, 6 -3, 7-6 (2), Cristina Bucsa (Spain from qualifying) with 6-2, 6-1, and quarter-finals by Harmony Tan (France) with 6-2, 6-0. That’s after Alexandra removed Maud Vigne (France) with 6-1, 6-1 and Marina Bassols Robera (Spain) with 6-0, 6-0 from the qualies.
It is the 11th ITF title for Alexandra, and the third trophies in the same category.
